Joe and Anthony Russo attempt Strongest the Marvel Cinematic Universe

Joe and Anthony Russo attempt to answer the question of who the strongest Avengers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is while trolling Hulk. Joe and Anthony Russo answer the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s strongest Avenger question by trolling Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk.

Earth’s Mightiest Heroes first assembled in 2012’s The Avengers, which brought together Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Steve Rogers/Captain America (Chris Evans), Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Clint Barton/Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), and Bruce Banner/Hulk. Throughout the MCU’s first four phases, the universe and, in turn, the Avengers’ roster of God-like and mere mortal characters has continued to expand.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier, the Russo brothers ostensibly became the MCU’s go-to directors, helming some of Marvel Studios’ most significant films in Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame. As one of the highest-grossing movies of all time, Endgame tied up 21 films worth of storytelling and catered to roughly 36 characters in their last stand against Thanos. That said, the Russos are arguably more equipped than anyone to tackle the question of who the strongest Avenger is.

New Marvel Hero Is Another Contender For MCU's Strongest Marvel is giving Wonder Man his own Disney+ show. Here's what makes this character a contender for the title of MCU's strongest Avenger. Marvel’s Wonder Man show promises to add another contender for the “MCU’s strongest Avenger” title. The MCU already boasts a number of noteworthy candidates for this label, including the original version of Hulk, Scarlet Witch, Thor, and Captain Marvel. Marvel had previously confirmed that it belonged to Carol Danvers, but it seems Scarlet Witch has since taken it away.

Phase 4 is changing the power scale of the MCU by adding in a handful of Marvel’s strongest heroes. After Marvel officially transformed Wanda Maximoff into her all-powerful comic counterpart, Eternals threw an entire team of god-like superhumans into the mix. Namor the Sub-Mariner, who has a history as an Avenger in Marvel Comics, is reportedly joining the MCU when Black Panther: Wakanda Forever hits the big screen. There’s also She-Hulk, who’s set to get her own Disney+ show in 2022. Another powerful Avenger is on his way to the MCU via a Disney+ series being developed by Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton. Cretton’s new MCU show is said to be a story centered on Simon Williams a.k.a. Wonder Man.

The Russos recently took the Wired Autocomplete Interview to promote their new movie The Gray Man. Answering the question, “who did the Russo Brothers say is the strongest Avenger?” the pair responded by giving legit answers and then trolling the once-incredible Hulk.

Groo the Wanderer is a comedy comic book series following what is essentially a parody of Conan the Barbarian, Groo—a large-nosed buffoon who gets by on his competent swordsmanship despite being frighteningly unaware of his surroundings. Hulk’s child-like nature may prove the comparison apt. Still, the Russos’ comments are less-than complimentary. While the directors are clearly joking, fans have complained about the MCU dwarfing Hulk’s strength after Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Thor: Ragnarok, Hulk seemingly got weaker. Coincidentally, the Russos then had him swiftly defeated by Thanos at the beginning of Infinity War before the introduction of a mild-mannered Professor Hulk in Endgame—which certainly didn’t do his strength any favors.

Hulk’s strength is theoretically on par with all superhuman beings as it increases exponentially alongside his anger. In the MCU, Tony Stark trolled Thor by programming the Quinjet to welcome Bruce as the “strongest Avenger.” Although their physical strength is comparable, Thor can fly and control lightning, which gives the God of Thunder an edge over Hulk if not Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel (Brie Larson)—whose cosmic powers are relatively unparalleled.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness saw Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) make quick work of Earth-838’s Avengers, the Illuminati, including Earth-838’s Maria Rambeau/Captain Marvel (Lashana Lynch). Aside from hilariously slighting Ruffalo’s character, the Russos know what they’re talking about. It’ll be interesting to see if Hulk can garner more respect in Disney+’s upcoming She-Hulk series.

Marvel stays true to the character, Wonder Man will join a small list of characters seen as contenders for the MCU’s strongest hero. As noted above, there are plenty of powerful Avengers in the MCU, but only with a few can a case be made for the top spot. One such character is Wonder Man, who was consistently described in classic Avengers comics as a character whose strength rivaled Thor. That distinction put Simon in a very exclusive club, as there aren’t many Marvel heroes on the God of Thunder’s level. Despite not being a god or a being enhanced with gamma radiation, Wonder Man is capable of trading blows with some of the strongest heroes and villains the Marvel Universe.
